We are committed to on-going training which emphasises providing the ultimate in quality of care and state-of-the-art techniques in luxuriously equipped surroundings.
Nigel and Lyndsey Pepperman opened South Lane Dental in 1992, building a reputation for high quality dentistry in a caring and welcoming environment.
My philosophy is to ensure that you as a patient are informed and in control about every aspect of your treatment. It is essential to have a trusting relationship so you can be confident in not only your dentist and team, but in your smile.
After qualifying from the University of Dundee dental school in 1978, I joined Northampton’s community dental service working with children, disabled and those with extreme dental phobia, expanding my skills within paediatric dentistry and the anxious patient.
Moving into general practice in 1982 allowed me to broaden my skills and interests, attending many post-graduate courses both in the UK and abroad, furthering my knowledge and keeping abreast of changes in the dental field.
In 1993, along with my wife, Lyndsey, we opened South Lane Dental. This enabled us to create the patient centred practice we had always dreamed of. Over the years it has been modernised and improved to keep up with the ever changing face and technology, not only of the dental industry but of patient requirements.
We strive to be at the cutting edge of new procedures, developing a network of competent, reliable and friendly professionals to help us meet your needs and desires. Over the past year we have employed a Dental Therapist to assist in routine treatments, which allows me to concentrate on more complex work. We also have an in-house Clinical Dental Technician to promote a more effective range of denture.
We have also employed a Business & Development Manager to help implement new legislation, further develop and improve the practice to make sure that your visits are as enjoyable as possible.
I gained my dental nursing qualification too many years ago to mention, suffice to say that the only places that held the examination were the main dental hospitals in London Birmingham and Edinburgh.
I started nursing in a general dental practice in Northampton and then moved into the community sector where I was to meet my then to be husband.
It was in the community sector that I developed my organizational skills and found working with mainly children rewarding. I was asked to do the health education certificate alongside other healthcare professionals and passed. This allowed me to actively promote dental hygiene within the clinics and schools.
Although I am now business partner and financial manager, I still attend all the relevant courses required to keep my day to day skills honed.
After a spell in partnership, Nigel decided to branch out on his own, which is when we decided to ‘throw our all in’ at South Lane.
Over the past nineteen years at South Lane I have seen dentistry change dramatically – for the better. Dentistry is now entering a new phase of regulations, which we find challenging but it does help to keep us focused on the most important part of our job – the patients.
Cosmetic dentistry has gone beyond recognition and although we have always prided ourselves on the care we give to both patients and staff, with the new guidelines, we strive to improve further. The most enjoyable part of my job is meeting and chatting to our patients, some of us growing older together. And the fantastic support team without which South Lane wouldn’t be what it is today. I love walking, especially with my now old dog and although we don’t walk as far it takes twice as long. Reading is my next passion along with cooking. I do work out and run, although this is more a commitment to health than a passion.
I have taken part in several charitable fundraising events in support of cancer research.
Having grown up in the dental industry, I nursed for brief spells of time before going into further education. In 2008 I graduated from the University of Lincoln with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations.
I then went on to work in the dental sector at a leading dental plan provider before moving on to a local dental product manufacturer.
After years of giving my opinion on matters about South Lane Dental (whether they were wanted or not) and helping with the marketing and events, I took on the position of Operations & Development Manager in May 2011.
To me your experience, as the patient, is just as important as the clinical treatment you receive.
My role in the practice is wide-spread, from making sure your experience is the best possible , to much of the ‘behind-the-scenes’ work in making sure that your dental practice complies with all regulations to make it the safest practice for you and your dental team. I also still work for the dental manufacturing company as their marketing coordinator which allows me to keep my toe in another aspect of the dental world.
Having bought a house and a puppy in the last year, my time is taken up with DIY (mainly because of the dog) and decorating. Apart from the house and work I enjoy travelling and spending quality time friends and family. I am also attempting the Race For Life for the first time, so let hope I make it to the end!
I have worked as a dental nurse since 1986, having trained in-house I registered in 2009.
I have taken part in many refresher courses for nursing and also in customer service courses since starting at South Lane Dental in 2004.
Visiting the dentist isn’t always at the top of everyone’s (yes that’s you, the patient) ‘favourite things to do’ list and I enjoy putting you at ease and making your visit if not always the most enjoyable, but at least a pleasant one!
The aspect of dentistry I enjoy most is cosmetic dental procedures, seeing patients happy with the result and of course the big smile.
South Lane Dental is such a great environment and the team are friends, all this makes the working day a happy one. Outside of South Lane Dental I enjoy all aspects of socialising. I like to keep fit, walk with my lovely dog Millie, cook delicious meals and take part in fundraising for a range of charities.
I have been a dental therapist for five years after graduating from Portsmouth University in 2007.
I started working at South Lane Dental in September 2009 and enjoy providing a wide variety of treatments to patients of all ages in such a friendly working environment with a great team.
I like to keep up to date with new methods and treatments to help patients achieve the best oral health. I have undertaken courses in Oral Health Education and Mentoring and intend to keep continuing my professional development!
In my spare time I enjoy sailing, dog walking and agility, and Pilates.
I qualified as a dental nurse in 1996 and then went on to qualify as a dental hygienist from Bristol Dental Hospital in 2004, within the same year I started working at South Lane.
I constantly attend courses to keep up to date with new techniques and to refresh my skills.
Being a hygienist allows me to work directly with you to help improve your dental health and ultimately giving you greater confidence in your smile.
The most interesting aspect of working in dentistry is that it is constantly changing; you have to continually update your skills and learn new procedures and technology. It’s certainly never boring!
South Lane Dental has many long standing patients, that have attended the practice since it opened, it’s lovely to get to know them and provide them with a service that they enjoy coming to. Working within a small team of dedicated professionals really creates a team environment. We all work well together and are friends as well as colleagues.
I enjoy participating in charitable events and have so far taken part in the Race for Life twice, the sunrise stroll for Rowans and am hoping to take part in the Moonlit Walk for Rowans too!
I started nursing in 1991 and went on to graduate from Highbury College in 1993.I started at South Lane Dental in September 2009.
It makes a huge difference who you work for and I have been lucky to have the chance to work at South Lane Dental with such a great team, who take pride in their work, and have such dedication to their patients.
The best part about my job is meeting and getting to know you, the patients (only if you’re nice though!)
I have taken many additional day courses at Queen Alexandra hospital and local courses to continue my professional development, as well as beauty therapy courses.
I have my own beauty business and work from home in the evenings and at weekends, and what little spare time I have left I spend with my two young children, socialising and going to the cinema.
Before becoming a receptionist I started nursing in 1993 and registered in 2009. I joined South Lane Dental as their receptionist in April 1998 and enjoy getting to know you (the patients), making you feel comfortable and at ease during your visit. Being able to meet different people and see the results of great dentistry make a difference to each and every one of them is one of the best parts of working at South Lane Dental.
We have such great patients and working environment it makes coming to work an enjoyable experience.
Outside of work I have fun with my family, see my friends and enjoy walking.
